The folks at Lyons Press have decided to push back the release of my new book, the Pro Historical Football Abstract, until next summer. I've received a lot of email from folks who are anxiously waiting, and to them I can only apologize for the delay and hope that you'll still want to buy the book in 2008.
The main reason or the delay is me: this book has been a massive undertaking and has taken me longer than I expected to complete. When all is said and done, it's going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 pages. It's an exhaustive look at the greatest players of all-time, with essays on the top players at each position and a decade-by-decade look at how the game has evolved.
Nobel laureate Toni Morrison said: "If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, you must be the one to write it." That's exactly what I've done, and I hope folks will enjoy reading it.
